he clients, a young married couple, yearned for a home that would capture the essence of the British colonial era and retain the conveniences and nuances of modern-day living. The wife is a celebrity makeup artist who desired quirkiness in the interior scheme. As per their feedback, Edwin & Esha Stanley, co-founders & design heads at Concepto Studio, employed a balanced and symmetric design for this 2800 sq ft villa located in Bangalore.
Though the villa is a 4BHK, the clients opted to finish only two bedrooms. They would get the nursery and other rooms decorated once they planned their family. The facade of the compact villa is inspired by the British colonial era, too, and sets the tone for the rest of the home. Its exteriors are reminiscent of the old Latin quarter of Goa, defined by a palimpsest of narrow cobbled lanes and eye-popping facades in butter yellow. Gold leafing paint on the walls with sculptures reminiscent of the British monarchy green one in the foyer and lends a regal feel. The patterned black and white flooring reinforces the yore design vocabulary.
